Heart diseases

Most heart and vascular system diseases can be associated with progressive atherosclerosis, which constricts the blood vessels supplying oxygen to individual organs and systems. In the case of constriction of the coronary arteries supplying oxygen to the cells of the heart muscle, the disease is manifested in the form of chest pains, the so-called coronary disease. Initially this occurs only after exercise, but with the progression of the disease comes also to occur at rest. In the case of a large constriction or total obstruction of the vascular lumen, a myocardial infarction may occur. Constriction or blockage of arteries supplying blood to the brain can lead to a stroke. Atherosclerosis of the arteries of the lower limbs inevitably leads to the development of ulceration and eventual amputation.

Our facility does not offer full diagnosis of coronary disease in that very often it requires coronarography. However, we provide therapy for patients who have already been diagnosed, ensuring supervision by a professional doctor and individual treatment for each patient. Unfortunately, the treatment of coronary disease does not lead to complete recovery. The aim of the therapy is to extend the patient’s life for as long as possible while simultaneously maintaining its comfort. This demands regular administration of medicines and adherence to the orders of the doctor.

Ever better methods for treating heart disease – whether bypasses, the insertion of special stents into the constricted vessels to maintain their patency and blood flow, or simply new drugs – mean we can now save the lives of many patients who only five or ten years ago would have stood no chance of surviving a heart attack. Gradual extension of the lives of those with a bad heart increases the population of patients with chronic cardiac insufficiency, a disease impairing the primary function of the heart, which is to pump blood to various internal organs. The symptoms include limited physical fitness – angina of effort and angina at rest – and, at times of exacerbation, pulmonary oedema, a direct threat to a patient’s life.

A patient with diagnosed cardiac insufficiency requires constant and regular medical supervision combined with assessment of the progress of the disease and rapid reaction to the changes. Our doctors have access to a wide range of laboratory tests, which allow them to provide therapy in an efficient and modern manner while observing the patient’s right to continued quality of life. At the standard medical consultations we educate the patient and his or her family to ensure better understanding of the disease and improve execution of the course of action advised by the doctor.

TREATMENT OF HEART DISEASES DEMANDS THE COOPERATION OF BOTH PARTIES – PATIENT AND DOCTOR. IF YOU ARE UNWILLING TO BEGIN SUCH TREATMENT, A MIRACULOUS RECOVERY CANNOT BE EXPECTED OF YOUR DOCTOR. PLEASE CONSIDER WHETHER OR NOT YOU OUGHT TO WASTE HIS OR HER TIME…
